Ultra Short End Launch Transitions (USELTs)

Ultra Short End Launch Transitions (USELTs) provide a compact, cost-effective solution for applications requiring a waveguide to coax transition. Available in a variety of mount options USELTs can also be customised for optimum performance over specific frequency bands.

USELTs, which allow in-line waveguide launches in the same space as a standard flange, are smaller, lighter, easier to install, lower cost and revolutionary in concept. Substantially smaller than currently available End Launch Transitions, BSC Filters’ USELTs’ performance is comparable with high standard right angled transition, return loss being >20dB across the full waveguide frequency band.

BSC Filters’ range of Ultra Short End Launch Transitions provide excellent broadband matching in the same space as a standard flange. USELTs are available in either brass or silver plated aluminium.

Specials are available for improved performance or mechanical changes.

Conventional

BSC Filters has a range of Waveguide to Coax transitions for use in many different applications including Military and Telecomms applications

There are basically three different types of transition.

1) Conventional right angle launch in waveguide sizes from WR28 to WR430.

2) Our patented Ultra Short End Launch Transitions (USELTs) range in waveguide sizes WR340 to WR320. For waveguide sizes below WR220 these transitions offer full band match in extremely small length, please see our Ultra Short End Launch Transitions technology section for further information.

3) The new NANo transition that builds on the range of the USELTs offering a waveguide to pin receptacle transition that is ideal for LNA or amplifier applications where the output is a hermitic feed thru, please see the NANo technology section for further information.

NANo

Neat Adapter No connector (NANo) transitions provide a compact, cost-effective solution for applications requiring a waveguide launch without a co-axial transition, thus reducing insertion loss or noise figures. Available in a variety of mount options NANo’s can also be customised for optimum performance over specific frequency bands.

NANo’s allow in-line waveguide launches directly onto the pin of an adjacent microwave module, thus removing the need for a coaxial interface and attendant losses. Mating components can be tested with field replaceable co-axial connectors, which can then be removed and the central pin inserted into the NANo. The component is then securely screwed to the NANo.

Low cost and revolutionary in concept, NANo performance is comparable with precision right angled transitions. Return loss being >14dB across the full waveguide frequency band or higher for custom bands. BSC Filters’ NANo range is available in either brass or silver plated aluminium. Hermetically sealed pin receptacles are also available.
